Dataset description

*Short description The 2011 census (former census) provides the basis for inventory of people and households. Key survey characteristics are basic demographic characteristics as well as data on employment, families and households. The data on the 2011 census were obtained from different administrative registers as well as from complementary total and sample surveys. The data are spatially differentiated up to the level of the municipalities. The 2011 census (former census) provides the basis for inventory of people, households. At least in the 1987 census and in the 2011 census, building and housing censuses were carried out simultaneously (which, however, are carried out under a separate EVAS bowl). In combination with the building and housing census, the census creates a snapshot of basic data on people, families, households, buildings and apartments. In addition to basic demographic characteristics such as age, gender, marital status and nationality, key features are, above all, information on employment, families and households, housing and buildings. In particular, censuses make it possible to link the different levels so that, for example, statements about the housing situation of people or families can be made. The data was provided by the responsible census unit. The data on the census 2011 were obtained from different administrative registers (residential registration registers, acquisition statistics registers of the BA and the reporting agencies for staff statistics) as well as primary surveys (total written survey of building and housing owners, total survey carried out by survey officers in institutions and residences (special areas), budget survey carried out on a sample basis by survey officers and other smaller surveys). For the periodicity of the census, the United Nations recommends implementation at least 10 years apart. Germany has not yet adhered to this for various reasons. However, an EU regulation envisages a Community-wide census in 2011 in all the years ending 1 year. The next census will then take place in 2021. Regional censuses and censuses also allow small-scale results below the municipal level. In the NRW state database, the municipality is the lowest level. For the 2011 census, evaluations on a sample basis are only possible up to the level of municipalities from 10,000 inhabitants.
