The data set shows poverty risk rates by gender and immigration status of persons. Under immigration status, the migration background, as well as the distinction according to German (citizens/Aussiedlers) and non-German (including separately persons of Turkish nationality) are recorded. The poverty risk rate is an indicator for measuring relative income poverty. It indicates how high the proportion of people with an income is below the poverty risk threshold of the population. The poverty risk rate is defined as the number of persons with an equivalent income (calculated on the basis of the new OECD scale) of less than 60 % of the median equivalent income of the total population per 100 people of the population. The poverty risk threshold is the income value below which one can speak of income poverty. Equivalised income is a demand-weighted per capita income per household calculated on the basis of the net household income
