*Short description The survey contents refer to the quantity produced according to biological and rearing form, farming practices, geographical area and allocation to salt or freshwater, as well as the proportion of organically produced quantity of total production, feed to aquaculture based on catches,produced spawning and juveniles produced in breeding and rearing facilities. In addition, every three years, starting with the reporting year 2011, the structure of aquaculture establishments is recorded. The purpose of the statistics is to collect information on production volume and structure in the aquaculture sector as a basis for national and European agricultural policy. The main users are therefore European Commission, Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, state ministries, fisheries administration, science, professional associations. A full survey took place in 2012 for the 2011 reporting year, as the survey was carried out for the first time and no data from previous years could be used. This is an annual statistics. The data are spatially differentiated up to the level of the country. The quality report provides information on methods and definitions as well as the quality of the results of a statistics.
