Dataset description

Frankfurt is becoming increasingly aware of climate change. Long-lasting heat periods with heat records have increased significantly in recent years. The city has to adapt to the rising temperatures. Especially in the downtown area of Frankfurt am Main, this is particularly noticeable, because the dense construction, high sealing and lower ventilation create real heat islands. Frankfurt am Main has a lot of inconspicuous and hidden historical running fountains in the old town, which are fed with drinking water. They also exist in the district of Sachsenhausen. In total, there are 48 such simple sandstone columns with a low basin, which are shown in the map as refreshing fountains.
