Dataset description

School entrance examination 2012 During the school entrance examination, the weight is assessed in relation to body size and on the basis of a common model (according to Kromeyer-Hausschild etc.). After that, a distinction is made between normal weight, underweight/clear underweight and overweight/clear overweight. Overweight is an increased body weight compared to the norm, which is due to an increased body fat percentage. The body mass index calculated in the school entrance examination is used as a measure for the weight. The body measure index (BMI) is calculated by dividing the body weight (kg) by the squared body length (m²). Since in children the body weight depends heavily on age, the age and gender of the respective child are also taken into account. Based on the average standard curves, a model has been developed which is divided into 100 weight zones, “percentiles”. Normal weight is a child whose calculated value is between the 10th and the 90th percentiles. Children with a value above the 90th percentile are classified as overweight or (from the 97th percentile) as significantly overweight (or obese). Children whose value is below the 10th percentile are considered to be underweight or underweight (below the 3 rd percentile). The percentile model was developed on the basis of an empirical survey.
