Dataset description

Every cyclist knows these situations: it gets tight on the road, there is a dense drive-up, risky overtaking maneuvers, a near turn accident or the abrupt evasion of an unexpected obstacle. Often, the given traffic situations play a decisive role. Data is needed to better identify potential hazards and to increase cycling safety in Konstanz. These can be collected by anyone interested in using the SimRa app. Thus, every recorded ride contributes to better cycling safety in Konstanz! At the [Project SimRa](https://simra-project.github.io/) (Safety in cycling), the [Technische Universität Berlin](http://tu.berlin/) and the [Einstein Center Digital Future](http://tu.berlin/) collect data using a data-saving smartphone app where it is particularly dangerous for cyclists in the city. With this data, the researchers can then provide targeted recommendations for action in order to make cities more bike-friendly and safer. [YouTube video about the project](https://youtu.be/SXpnTjMLdP4) The [SimRa dashboard](https://simra-project.github.io/dashboard/) provides an overview of all the collected data as well as the change from the previous week. In addition, detailed analysis maps of individual regions can be accessed. In the portal Open Data Konstanz, the city provides a machine-readable dataset on reported near-accidents in the district of Konstanz. These events were captured by citizens using the SimRa app. Note: The city of Konstanz has not collected the data, the author is the [SimRa project](https://simra-project.github.io/). Due to the (still) low data base, the findings are not representative and can only serve as an indication of possible danger points. Further raw data cannot currently be provided for data protection reasons. ###Data source: [Open data Konstanz](https://offenedaten-konstanz.de/dataset/simra-sicherheit-im-radverkehr-pilotprojekt) under CC-BY 4.0
