Territory monograph Soils in Sauer- und Siegerland

The “Soils in the Sauer- und Siegerland” summarise the results from more than 50 years of soil mapping of the Geological Service NRW. After an introduction to natural space and climate as well as the history of the earth and landscape, the origin, distribution, properties and use of soils and their substrates are described in detail. This is done on different scale levels and maps from soil regions to soil landscapes to guide soil companies with their most important soil shapes and exemplary profiles. These are complemented by characteristics of humus levels, grain sizes, pH values, base saturations, etc., for which the analysis results of thousands of soil profiles have been evaluated. Notes on the use and danger of soils as well as existing maps complete the monograph.
