The specialist service 8.2 — Transport/Street regularly carries out speed measurements on public roads in the city area of Moers. For traffic measurements, a measuring instrument (Impactor of Impact systems GmbH) is used, which is located in a small grey box and is fixed inconspicuously to road users to sign or lantern poles. The measuring instrument can continuously perform multi-day counts and speed measurements, so that the traffic situation can be assessed.
The measuring instrument performs the measurements by radar. The data to be recorded are:
Date, time, placeholder (00), speed, vehicle length and direction of travel Example: 26.02.16 10:05:46;00;034;02;1 26.02.16 10:07:06;00;043;01;0 26.02.16 10:07:22;00;018;01;1 26.02.16 10:07:27;00;047;01;0
Here are 2 special features:
The vehicle length in the measuring beam is differentiated between passenger cars and trucks via a separate programme.
Minimum length passenger car 1 m Minimum length truck 8 m Minimum length of trucks 12 m
In the direction of travel, the lane closest to the measuring instrument shall be named first, which are designated 0 in Ascii format and the remoter lane of 1.
The respective file name (e.g. Landwehrstraße57_T30_15122014) is the street name, house number, the maximum speed allowed there (T 30-30 km/h; T50-50 km/h etc.) and the starting date of the measurement.
