The state of North Rhine-Westphalia operates over 330 permanent counting points on motorways, federal and state roads to record traffic demand and development. A counting point is located on the Ostwestfalendamm (B61) between the junction plates Quelle and Johannistal.
Through a continuous recording and statistical evaluation of traffic data, the so-called average daily traffic (DTV) is determined, an important input value for traffic planning and concerns of the road transport authority. The collected data of all permanent counting points are evaluated monthly on behalf of the Ministry of Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and published on the website of the Ministry of Transport.
For all permanent counting stations, the average and maximum daily traffic of the month, for all vehicles as well as for heavy-duty traffic (trucks & 3.5t and buses) are evaluated. The average daily traffic is also shown separately by type of vehicle.
The monthly and annual evaluations of all permanent counting stations in NRW can be viewed at the following link: werden:https://www.strassen.nrw.de/de/wir-bauen-fuer-sie/verkehr/verkehrsbelastung/dauerzaehlstellen.html
