Dataset description

The data set contains figures on unemployment from the monitoring report on the social situation in Düsseldorf from 2014 to 2019. The focus of the monitoring report is on the presentation of actual states and the temporal development of selected indicators from the topics of population and household structure, labour market, income and pensions, social minimum protection in SGB II and SGB XII as well as debt. The Unemployed file contains the following column information: Year: Number of years Total: Number of unemployed female: Number of female unemployed male: Number of male unemployed under 25 years of age: Number of unemployed under 25 years of age 55 years and older: Number of unemployed 55 years and older Foreigners: Number of foreign unemployed Long-term unemployed: Number of persons who are unemployed for at least one year. Share of the long-term unemployed: Share of long-term unemployed as a percentage of all unemployed Severely disabled: Number of severely disabled unemployed The Unemployment Rate file contains the following column information: Year: Number of years Total: Total unemployment rate Women: Unemployment rate for women Men: Unemployment rate for men 15 to less than 25 years: Unemployment rate (15 to under 25 years) 55 years and older: Unemployment rate (55 years and older) Foreigners: Unemployment rate for foreigners The unemployment rate compares the number of unemployed to the number of workers. The labour force is the civilian workforce and the unemployed. The unemployment rate for foreigners showed distortions between 2015 and 2017. The reason was the increase in immigration. This impacted immediately in the counter (unemployed), but only time-shifted in the reference size (acquirers), as this is only recorded once a year on the basis of past data (cf. background information of the BA, Nuremberg 2020) The file “Share of the unemployed in the dependent labour force” (here: Employees subject to social security contributions plus unemployed persons) contains the following column information: Year: Number of years Total: Share of the unemployed in the labour force as a percentage
