Dataset description

The data is used to predict water levels with high temporal and spatial resolution for the entire coastline of the German North Sea. In order to assess the hazard potential, the determined water levels are compared to the existing dike line (if available) and the freeboard is determined and issued. In addition, the individual components (astronomic water level, wind jam and total water level) are output for each of the calculated points. The forecasts are made for the calculations of the ICON weather forecast model provided by the German Weather Service as they are also used by the Federal Maritime and Hydrography Office.
