The Center for the Open Protection of Elderly Kalamarias (KAPI) was established in 1983 by decision of the Minister for Health and Welfare. The Municipality of Kalamaria, which for years has shown interest in its elderly citizens to whom it owes the progress and development of the city, continues to support and subsidise the programs of KAPIS. Purpose of the CAP The prevention of biological, psychological and social problems of older people so that they remain equal and active members of society at large Enlightenment and cooperation between society and special bodies on the problems and needs of older people Primary Prevention (vaccinations, tips for avoiding accidents) Secondary Prevention (medical examinations for early diagnosis) What services are offered in the CAP? Counselling, psychoemotional support, social care for older people and their families Care and instructions for Medical and Hospital Care Physiotherapy physiotherapy Ergonomic therapy At home service Organised entertainment (choir groups, dancers) Participation in bath and summer camps programs Tele-help program Volunteering Programs Training, lectures, study of subjects, visits to museums and archaeological sites KPIH is staffed by Doctors, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Family Assistants. Members of the CAPH may become: People aged 60 and over men and women regardless of their economic and social situation. Supporting documents for registration: police ID, proof of DEKO, 2 recent small photos and EUR 6 What is of particular importance in the concept of open protection for the elderly of our Municipality is their stay in the community, in the familiar environment of the family, the neighborhood, the friendly surroundings and the avoidance of institutionally enclosed care and other forms of asylum.
