Dataset description

Law 3463/2006, ‘Code of Municipalities and Communities’, in particular Articles 203 to 207, introduced for the first time the obligation to draw up Operational Programmes by the Municipality with a population of more than 10,000 inhabitants. 266, the preparation of an OP is now mandatory for all local authorities. The FP process is a collective activity by which organised social actors and informal social groups in a place co-decide in a coordinated way, taking into account the objective economic data, objectives and priorities of the local community. The implementation of planning is done not only by economic criteria but also with social and political criteria, with the ultimate goal of exploiting the limited resources of an area It is not a simple developmental study but a continuous and re-energised social process. The Municipality as coordinator and main executor of the effort has the control and disposal of the goods of its area, in order to ensure an economic future consistent with the quality of life of the citizens. The aim of the Municipal Operational Programme is to promote the local development and internal development of the Municipality as an organisation, in line with the directions of development planning and by strengthening the cooperations of the Municipality at local and national level, in a medium-term five-year programming which coincides with each mayoral period.
