Dataset description

Demographic Movement, at 31 December of each year, from 1931 to 2015 complete with birth rates, mortality and general census data. Speaking of Census, it is good to draw a brief history of them. The first General Census of Population in Italy dates back to 1861, the year of the unification of the country in the Kingdom of Italy and the Italians were numbered 26 million and three hundred thousand. From 1861 to 2011, the census sessions took place every 10 years with the exceptions of 1891, due to the financial difficulties faced by the country and in 1941 due to the Second World War. Another exception is the Census of 1936, carried out only 5 years after the previous one following a legislative reform of 1930 that had changed its periodicity, immediately after carried over to ten years as still in force. At the last Census of 2011, carried out in innovative ways, the population recorded in our country exceeds 60 million.
