Dataset description

The regional air quality monitoring network, operating since the 1990s, is a cognitive tool designed to provide information on the general state of air quality throughout the region and not exclusively aimed at verifying compliance with regulatory limits. It consists of both fixed measuring stations located at sites representative of the different characteristics of the region from the point of view of orography, weather and climate conditions and the presence of pollutant sources, and a mobile laboratory used to carry out measurement campaigns to provide an estimate of the average annual levels of air pollution at points of interest in the region. The monitoring of the main pollutants is carried out mainly through automatic analysers (corresponding to the reference methods provided for in the legislation) that provide regular or time-based data. The data provided continuously by the monitoring stations are supplemented, as required by the legislation, with indicative measurements based on less stringent quality objectives than those for fixed measurements, in particular for the determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and metals in PM10. In addition, measurement campaigns are carried out with a mobile laboratory and samplers in different sites in the region. The configuration of the monitoring network is constantly evolving and has recently been updated according to the directives of Legislative Decree 155/2010: the map and table below shows the current one. You can consult the measured data from the stations and synthetic reports on the state of air quality.
