Dataset description

The environmental status of a watercourse is defined by the lowest value of its ecological and chemical status. The ecological status is assessed by analysing biological communities (EQB), chemical-physical characteristics (LIMeco) and hydromorphological (IDRAIM) and specific pollutants (Table 1/B — Legislative Decree 172/2015). The resulting evaluation is summarised in a quality judgment divided into five classes, which is associated with a conventional colour: high-blue, good-green, enough-yellow, poor-orange, bad-red.The chemical state assesses the presence of “priority” chemicals. Water bodies that meet for the substances of the priority list, all environmental quality standards set by Legislative Decree 152/06 and as amended, are classified in good chemical status, to which is associated the conventional blue color. Water bodies that do not meet these environmental quality standards are classified in bad, to which is associated the conventional red color. For highly modified water bodies, i.e. those water bodies that have undergone profound morphological alterations, we talk instead of ecological potential, rather than ecological status. The evaluation process is the same and the resulting quality judgement is divided into four classes with the following conventional colours: good and over-green/grey, enough-yellow/grey, poor-orange/grey, bad-red/grey.The published data are updated annually, so for water bodies whose monitoring has not yet been carried out or is not yet complete, the statement n.d. (not available) appears. Please refer to the link http://www.arpa.vda.it/it/acqua/acque-superficiali/acque-correnti/monitoraggio for further information.
