Arrival orders of the riders and horses of the rides of the Quintana of Foligno

The dataset refers to the arrival orders of the knight/horse pair in the period 2000-2016, for the two rides of the Quintana (challenge and revenge) that take place every year. The challenge usually takes place in June, the rematch in September. The Palio takes place in the stadium “Campo de li Giochi” in Foligno, which has the shape of an 8 bounded by a series of flags and in the center is placed the statue of the god Mars holding a ring. The single carousel takes place in three rounds. At each round the rider tries to make three times the path in the shortest possible time and to remove the ring from the arm of the god Mars. The diameter of the rings of the 1st, 2nd and 3 rd round is 8 cm, 6 cm and 5 cm respectively. The one who scores the highest score in the shortest total time is proclaimed winner of the carousel.
