Dataset description

The dataset ‘Battenti P1 — Tr>> 100 years — areas’ is a classification of the expected doors in the perimeter areas as P1 pursuant to Legislative Decree 49/2010 — Flood Directive 2007/60. The cartography of the doors was produced using the model, in_CoastFlood (a tool for GIS), developed by SGSS for the rapid processing of coastal hazard maps, pursuant to Legislative Decree 49/2010. For each of the three scenarios (Tr10, Tr100 and Tr>> 100) a new ‘run’ of the model was carried out, using as a high-resolution topographic base the DTM 2012 (or 2010, in areas without coverage 2012), both DTMs are more accurate than the DTM 2008 used for hazard maps under the Floods Directive in 2013. For the extraction of the doors the modeling is interrupted when the ‘damping surface’ is generated, from which the DTM 2012 is subtracted, thus obtaining a ‘grid’ of quotas, which represents the doors. The modeling was preceded by a phase of quality testing that allowed us to see that the result, in terms of extension of floodable areas, did not deviate from the areas mapped in 2013. The test also covered the comparison with: 1) the flood and swing maps obtained with a two-dimensional model DHI Mike 2 in two sites on the regional coast (Lido di Savio and Cesenatico); 2) the data measured at the centennial event of 6-7 February 2015. The results of the comparisons were very comforting. The classification is represented in elevation bands (6 classes of water height): minimum class 0-50 cm and maximum > 250 cm.
