Dataset description

The resource in question contains the surveys of the areas covered by fire in the regional territory in 2014, as well as the typology of the burnt stands. The representation shows only fires that have affected areas of more than 1000 square meters. The areas covered by the fire were detected: 1. along the perimeter of the fire, and the parts inside it, using handheld GPS instrument with a tolerance of 5 ¿10 metres; 2) the geometries, thus acquired, were analysed, corrected and validated with ArcGIS 10.2 and QGIS 1.8; 3) the stands crossed by fire have been identified and classified by direct observation of plant residues still present, for comparison with vegetation in contiguous areas not burned and by photo-interpretation of the areas concerned.
