Dataset description

Cholelithiasis is a widespread condition characterised by the presence of stones in the gallbladder and/or biliary tract; it affects women most, with a female/male ratio of 2 to 1. Acute cholecystitis is an acute inflammation of the gallbladder wall, accompanied by cholelithiasis in 95 % of cases; the chronic form is often characterised by recurrent colic and a contracted, fibrotic, thickened gallbladder. Cholelithiasis with or without cholecystitis is an important cause of abdominal surgery. The surgery can be carried out in laparoscopy or open air (laparotomy). Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is now considered the “gold standard” in the treatment of gallbladder calculosis in uncomplicated cases. Find out more about: http://95.110.213.190/prevale2014
