Dataset description

Class defining the characteristics of the road infrastructure according to administrative criteria. The class is defined by two fundamental spatial properties, one area corresponding to the aggregate of the road areas, and the other linear, corresponding to the aggregate of the road elements at the level of detail and the aggregate of road sections at the synthesis level, which symbolically represents the development of the path of an extended date. The route of an administrative extremity has characteristics of orientation, generally on its path are distributed “kilometre logs” which represent overall the system of reference: each stone, placed in a very precise position on the territory, reports the value of the kilometre (i.e. the progressive route of that road from the beginning of the same) at that point. An Executive Board therefore has a starting point and an end point, but its route may have more than one discontinuity or for situations covered by legislative rules (e.g. a provincial road in conjunction with the crossing of urban centres with a population of more than 10000 inhabitants is “downgraded”, for the portion of the crossing, at Strada Comunale and loses its characteristics as a provincial road) or by interaction with the rest of the road network: for example, a given provincial road flows into another road (state vacuum, either provincial, or municipal) and resumes its route at the same time as a crossroads other than the confluence. It is characterised by the administrative classification and the corresponding property that determines its identification details (code and name of the road, e.g. SS36 — Strada del Sempione). It is also characterised by the functional classification of the project. From the management point of view, on the other hand, some roads can be managed in whole or for portions by persons other than the Owner (e.g. the management of the SR01 regional road may have been delegated to the provinces that crosses).
