Dataset description

Following the meeting of the Permanent Institutional Conference on 23 May 2017, the District Basin Authority of the Po River has become operational, replacing the Po River Basin Authority to which the interregional basin basins of the Rhine, Fissero-Tartaro-Canalbianco, Conca-Marecchia and the regional Romagnoli basins are annexed. The Po water catchment area covers the territory of Liguria, Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lombardy, the Autonomous Province of Trento, Marche, Veneto and extends also to portions of French and Swiss territory. To a large extent, the perimeter of the area of competence coincides with the boundary of the river basin. The differences have been introduced to take account of particular administrative needs. For example, Italian municipalities on the national border are fully included within the Po River Basin Authority even if they have portions of territory in other basins. The District Reference Limitations are: — the International District which considers the entire territory of the Po Basin which includes French, Swiss, and San Marino territory, including the part of Italian territory falling within the Rhine and Danube basins — the Italian District only which considers only the Italian territory of the Po Basin, including the municipality of Campione d’Italia, excluding San Marino, including the part of Italian territory falling within the Rhine and Danube basins The other boundaries are: — the International District excluding the Rhine of Her and the Danube — the areas of the Po basin falling within non-Italian territory — the Italian District — the municipality of Campione d’Italia — the Italian territory in the Rhine and Danube basins — San Marino
