Dataset description

The dataset contains data relating to the local units (UL) present in the territory of the Municipality of Milan. The local unit is the physical place where the enterprise carries out its activity, so it can coincide with the enterprise or part of it. (Some examples: Agency, bar, store, shop, laboratory, warehouse, professional studio, office, surgery, hotel...). The ULs present in the dataset are classified by Ateco 2007 UL code (2 and 5 digits). For each item in the Ateco classification, the number of ULs, the number of employed and self-employed persons and the total number of employees (sum of the two above items) shall be reported. NOTE 1: Data on employees are calculated as work units. In this respect, it is recalled that full-time work units (ULA) may refer to the work performed by a full-time worker in the year, or to the equivalent amount of work performed by part-time workers or by workers performing double work (e.g. two 50 % part-time workers are 1 work unit). The unit of work is therefore not linked to the individual natural person, but refers conventionally to a standard amount of full-time work defined by national contracts. This explains the presence of values with decimal places. NOTE 2: The data shall be updated to the last year available. Pending final ISTAT data for 2012.
