Among the structural elements that have characterised the formation of the plain landscape emerge, for example, the land organisation and the related settlement methods, linked to the rural economy of different territories. In parallel, the irrigation network of historical origin and the traces of reclamation interventions allow to recognise the different ways of exploiting the territory over time. Finally, historical routes of communication contribute to the identification of the original network of links and institutional political relations between once divided and neighbouring countries.
