Dataset description

The __[Climate Observatory](https://www.arpae.it/clima)__ and the Territory and Networks Unit of Arpae Simc produce a meteorological dataset of hourly and daily data for the main meteorological and agrometeorological variables covering the entire regional territory from 2001 to the present day. The data is obtained by spatial interpolation on a regular grid from the values detected by the network of weather stations. Every day a grib file is produced and published (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRIB) containing the hourly and daily values of each cell in the dataset (see examples on https://github.com/ARPA-SIMC/simc-opendata-examples to use grib data). The data are also published in csv format. The interpolated hourly quantities are: air temperature, precipitation, relative humidity of the air, intensity (scaling and vector) and wind direction, solar irradiance. The derived hourly quantities are foliar wetting and hourly reference evapotranspiration according to Penman-Monteith. The daily derivative quantities are the hours of foliar wetting and the daily reference evapotranspiration according to Hargreaves-Samani and Penman-Monteith. Only data that pass daily quality checks carried out by the staff of the HydroMeteoClima structure contribute to the analysis. Current version: v2.0 (May 2022). Versions of ERG5 are described at the following link: (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MM0mxdwAG-BcChD9f5wEaF-bIDNr376tmGMBMQCcjKM/edit?usp=sharing). A detailed description of the methods used to produce the analysis was published in the following article: G. Antolini, L. Auteri, V. Pavan, F. Tomei, R. Tomozeiu, V. Marletto, 2015.
