Map of the Franks. The theme presents the different types of landslide related to past and current instability. Landslides concerning the substrate are distinguished typologically according to Varnes’ classification (1978). Each type (with the exception of “cracks”) is associated with information on the speed of movements during activations for both the preparatory phase and the collapse phase. Indications are also provided on the state of evolution of movements distinguishing the ancient or recent landslides characterised by more or less recurring activations in the last 30 years, from those mostly ancient characterised by widespread quiescence. The various phenomena were systematically detected through photointerpretation study associated with surveys of soil often integrated and screened with historical archive information examined from 19th century documents. The dataset is part of the Geological Process Databank created in the second half of the 1980s by the Geological, Meteorological and Seismic Risk Prevention Sector of the Piedmont Region (which was then merged into the Harp) to respond to the growing demand for logical and structured information on the territory, necessary for the planning, coordination and direction of territorial-geological choices and interventions. The original thematic data was produced on I.G.M. 1:100,000 cutting by structuring and integrating the data already collected by the CNR-IRPI of Turin in the context of the research aimed at assessing the hazards associated with hydrological events in Piedmont.
