Dataset description

The purpose of the service is to provide direct access to the consultation in a geo-referenced environment of the information collected and computerised under the CARG — Geological Charter of Italy Programme at the 1:50000 scale in Piedmont, whose implementation is institutionally assigned to ARPA Piemonte and which has made use of specific agreements with the CNR-IGG of Turin and Pisa and the Department of Science of the Land of Turin. The mapping programme is promoted and coordinated by the Italian Geological Service ISPRA (formerly APAT) as the State’s cartographic body whose task is to detect, update and publish the Geological Charter of Italy (For the display of national CARG sheets and related illustrative notes, please refer to the website www.isprambiente.gov.it/Media/carg). The information heritage built as part of the CARG Project in Piedmont is currently made available to the public only in raster format and can be consulted at Fogli:153 Bardonecchia, 154 Susa, 155 Torino Ovest, 156 Torino Est, 157 Trino, 194 Acqui Terme, 196 Cabella Ligure, 211 Dego. The reference system adopted is WGS84 — WEB MERCATOR (Auxiliary Sphere) — EPSG:3857. The entire database and specialist component of the Geological Information System can be requested at the moment only through a specific application to the Urp of Arpa Piemonte with reference to the Thematic Department of Geology and Failure.
