Dataset description

The dataset represents information on the typing of rivers and the identification of water bodies in Piedmont, in accordance with the European Directive 2000/60/EC (WFD) establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy. With the adoption of Legislative Decree 152/2006 “Environmental standards”, Italy has formally transposed the WFD. The dataset is the update of the water bodies related to the 2015-2020 Management Plan of the Po River Basin District on the most recent geographical data base compared to the previous version linked to DBPrior 10K.In fact, the geographical reference level for data on river types and water bodies, is the official database of the hydrographic grid of the Piedmont Region, which is part of the Territorial Data Base for Reference of Bodies (BDTRE). that is, it is the geographical database of the Piedmont region, promoted by the Piedmont Region, with the contents of a technical cartography, structured according to the national “Technical Rules for the definition of the content specifications of geotopographic databases” and in the first place aimed at supporting the activities of planning, government and protection of the territory, at the scale of 1:10,000.
