Dataset description

Please note: for a correct view and use of this dataset we recommend to consult it on the original page on the Portal of Florence. At the same address there are also, for enabled datasets, additional access formats, the preview of the display via API call, the consultation of fields in DCAT-AP IT format, the ability to express an evaluation and comment on the dataset itself. All available resource formats for this dataset can be downloaded as ZIP packages: inside the package sarà available the resource in the chosen format, complete with all the information about the metadation and the associated license. The Historical and Administrative Road of the Municipality of Florence is a fundamental tool for the knowledge of the city’s toponyomas in its most significant elements, such as the origin of the name, the length, the accesses of the various traffic areas and the borders, the geographical position. The consultation of the Stradario, here possible in a completely open format, as well as serving for any type of application that needs data, is also an interpreter of the choices made over time and provides a useful element of historical and chronological analysis of the attribution of place names, an unfolding of the social and cultural memory of our city. The data are the result of a work that lasted many years, completed in 2004, by the dedicated working group set up within the Advisory Commission for Toponomastica, led by Prof. Piero Fiorelli and subsequently updated by the Toponomastica Office with the collaboration of Dr. Maria Venturi, who also edited the printing press for the types of Polistampa. It should be noted that the entire road system is built on the road section and not on the toponym and therefore all the chronological data refer to the section itself and its evolution over time. The complete description of the history of the road section is visible only inside the downloadable file in.json format.
