Dataset description

The Inventory of Fenomeni Franosi in Italy (IFFI) aims not only to survey landslides occurring in Italy, according to a standardised and shared methodology, but also to be a basic cognitive tool for the assessment of the danger from landslides of the Hydrogeological Asset Plans (PAIs), for the planning and preliminary design of soil protection interventions and infrastructure networks and finally for the drafting of Civil Protection Emergency Plans. In the period 2001-2008, the project was implemented by means of agreements. The first agreements (IFFI Conventions) were concluded in the period November 2000 to May 2001 between the National Geological Service and the Regions/Autonomous Provinces and concluded in 2005 for almost all the Regions. The second agreements (II IFFI Conventions), concluded in 2005 between APAT and the Regions/Autonomous Provinces for the integration and updating of the database, were concluded between 2006 and 2008. Since 2008, the Regions have sent ISPRA any updates on the landslides in their possession. The data are updated to 2017 for the Umbria Region; 2016 for Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Piedmont, Sicily, Valle d’Aosta and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano; 2015 for Tuscany; to 2014 for Basilicata and Lombardy. For the remaining regions, the data are updated to 2007. To date, the landslides recorded in the Inventory are 620.808.
