Dataset description

The data relating to the monitoring of species of Community interest represent the compliance of the Piedmont Region with the provisions of Article 17 of Directive 92/43/EEC ‘Habitat’, according to which Member States must report every six years the conservation status of the species and habitats included in the Annexes to the Directive, and therefore worthy of protection, present on their territory. The data refer to the presence of species both within the Natura 2000 Network sites (SCIs and SPAs) and outside and, for some of them, information on population size and occupied territorial coverage is also available. They are also associated with the assessment carried out by the Ministry of the Environment on the conservation status and trend of each species and habitat, but referring to the entire biogeographical region and not to the individual regional body. The data relate to 2013. A WMS (Web Map Service) is a service that produces spatially related maps of data from geographical information, and is a technical specification defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). This WMS presents the data relating to the monitoring of species of Community interest and represents the compliance of the Piedmont Region with the provisions of Article 17 of Directive 92/43/EEC "Habitats. Maps can be viewed via various software (e.g. QGIS) using the following url: http://geomap.reteunitaria.piemonte.it/ws/gsareprot/rp-01/monitspeciewms/wms_monitspecie
