Lowland Semi-Detailed Soil Map 1: 50.000 — Edition 1999

The semi-detailed level (scale 1: 50.000) is the most suitable level of support for feasibility projects and spatial planning at sub-regional level. The soil types represented in map 1: 50.000 correspond to the soil sub-units of map 1: 250.000. Their description is provided on the website: Http://gias.regione.emilia-romagna.it/suoli/, which gives a summary description of the soil and its environment for each type of soil, indicating the characteristics for their local recognition and the classifications according to the FAO legend and the Soil Taxonomy; A description of a representative profile, including variability in morphological and chemical-physical characteristics; Quality assessments and land use limitations, with particular reference to the agri-environmental sector and certain agricultural management considerations, in order to reconcile agricultural productivity with respect for the environment. In the different sections of the territory, the approximation with which the soil map is made available varies. In an attempt to reconcile technical quality, timeliness and acceptable costs, the Pedologic Office carries out successive approximations in the production of soil maps.
