In Foglio Savona the continental shelf is on average underdeveloped and gradually shrinks in amplitude from SO to NE. There is generally an inner part where the substrate often emerges and a frontal part of sedimentary construction; the latter takes on considerable importance only at the coastal plain of Albenga, thanks to the land supplies of the Centa River, and disappears completely at the head of the Canyon of Laigueglia. The erosive areas are mainly represented by the numerous canyons and some areas with widespread erosion. Six of the main canyons converge within the upper escarpment or in the center of the basin, while the others converge, outside Foglio, in the Canyon of Vado, which collects the latter and the previous ones before the confluence in the Valle di Genova. Various canyons have branched heads; of some we do not know the ending towards the ground, neither in terms of distance from the coast, nor as the amplitude and depth of engraving, so it is not possible to elaborate considerations on the relative criticality. Only the warheads of the Laigueglia Canyons, Varigotti and Spotorno were considered as critical areas, which “aggregate” very small platforms and can be the site of deviations of sedimentary masses on the crowning or hips.
