Magic Foglio 50 Lecce — Map (OpenData)

Sheet 50 is characterised, in all its extension, by phenomena of widespread erosion due to currents and in particular, in some periods, to the phenomenon of cascading currents. The platform is characterised by a morphology with erosive remnants, isolated reliefs of round shape or elongated in ridges of varying length from 0.5 m to 12 km and height of 5-15 m, with direction E-O and NO-SE. It is mapled as a “generic outcrop substrate” also a portion of the platform in the SE part of the sheet very close to the coast, bounded by erosive escarpments that reach 20 m in height. On the platform there is a dune field of about 5 km², confined between two areas of outcropping substrate, and a boat field of about 5 km² in continuity with the dune field that, proceeding true east, changes direction (N-S). Along the edge of the platform there are a series of depressions aligned in the NO-SE direction probably due to the impact of dense waters during the cascading phenomenon. On the edge of the platform and in the upper escarpment you can recognise a series of landslide niches, of arched or semicircular shape and average dimensions of about 1 km of width and niche escarpment of 20 m in height.
