Marecchia conoid detail network and Marecchia conoid recharging network — 2021 update

Quantitative data years 2001-2021 The data relating to the monitoring carried out since 2001 for the alluvial conoid of the Marecchia River are presented, divided into the following two networks: Marecchia conoid detail network (data from 2001 to 2021) Marecchia conoid recharging project network (data from 2014 to 2021) The network of detail of the cone of the Marecchia River represents an example of local monitoring dedicated to the important Rimini cone. It was founded in the early 2000s, stabilising since 2006 a quarterly survey on 72 monitoring points covering the entire conoid, from the upstream part (at the height of Villa Verucchio) to its outlet at sea (Rimini and Bellaria). In recent years the network is managed by the Province of Rimini. Since 2008, the repetition of dry periods has led to the need to integrate monitoring with higher frequencies on a selected subset of measurement points. Therefore, 36 wells/piezometers representative of the central and distal portion of the conoid were identified on which measures were intensified at specific times of the year. Since September 2015, the piezometric measurements continue with 4 measurements per year on the subset of the 36 points of the central and distal portion of the conoid and are carried out by Arpae and the Geology, Soil and Seismic Area of the Emilia-Romagna Region. With some more recent integrations, points in the network have become 41. The Marecchia conoid network includes 5 measuring points on which regional environmental quality monitoring is also carried out, in accordance with DIR 2000/60/EC. In agreement with the Province of Rimini, data for the period 2001-2014 are also published, for all available measurement points. The network of the Marecchia conoid recharging project is an example of monitoring in support of a specific project, started by the Emilia-Romagna Region with a two-year trial starting from February 2014. The network consists of 24 wells/piezometers in the immediate vicinity of the recharging lake (Lake Incal System) and is inserted within the largest detail network of the Marecchia cone with which it shares 3 measuring points, one of which also belongs to the regional monitoring network for environmental quality, in accordance with DIR 2000/60/EC. Groundwater monitoring is carried out in accordance with DM100/2016: Regulation laying down criteria for granting authorisation to revise or artificially increase groundwater bodies with a view to achieving the quality objective, pursuant to Article 104(4a) of Legislative Decree No 152 of 3 April 2006. The measurements are carried out by Arpae and Emilia-Romagna Region, Geology, Soils and Seismic Area, according to a specific Memorandum of Understanding.
