Dataset description

The data in question concern the annual production of municipal waste at municipal level from 2006 to 2016 including the % of separate collection and the details of the types of waste collected and started for recovery or disposal. The data contained in this series have been provided by the waste management consortia and, after a check by the Province and the Region, formally approved each year with specific resolution of the Regional Executive. In particular, the % of separate collection was calculated on the basis of the regional method then in force referred to in D.G.R. 43-435 of 10 July 2000 and p.m. Total municipal waste produced (RT) consists of the sum of waste collected separately (RD) and initiated for recovery operations and undifferentiated municipal waste (ROs) remaining from separate collection. Other types of waste collected by the public service operator, which are quantitatively small, not included in the calculation of the percentage of separate collection (e.g. waste oils, batteries, tyres, etc.), the latter item, added to the RT, constitutes the entry ‘PT’ (Total Production). In addition, a percentage relative to the treatment waste shall be subtracted from the total packaging collected by the multi-material method, which varies according to the type of collection adopted: 3 % for joint collection glass/metal and plastic/metal, 7 % for joint collection glass/plastic/metal and 20 % for other waste collected jointly. Bulky waste initiated for recovery and waste electrical and electronic equipment are also counted in the RD net of the percentages of waste that cannot be less than 40 % of the bulky and WEEE collected. The waste described above is then included in the item RU, added to the undifferentiated waste. Separate collection also counts waste assimilated to municipal waste intended for recovery (limited to EER codes 20 and 15), collected outside the public system, provided that they are justified by specific documentation and fall within the limits of assimilation laid down by the Municipality. It should be noted that in Piedmont waste management consortia can have a territorial extension that goes beyond the provincial limits. This is the case of the municipalities of Moncalvo (AT) belonging to the Consorzio Casalese Riwauti di Alessandria, Mombaldone (AT) belonging to the Consortium of Waste Services of the Novese Tortonese Acquese and Ovadese of Alessandria, Moncucco Torinese (AT) member of the Chierese Consortium for the services of the Metropolitan City of Turin, Villata (VC) belonging to the Consortium of Basin Basin Novarese.
