Dataset description

Arpae, in agreement with the health service of the Emilia-Romagna Region, has carried out, since 2019, the monitoring for the scientific deepening of the risks related to the possible presence and flowering of cyanobacteria in regional coastal waters suitable for bathing as a result of their increasing spread mainly due to eutrophication and climate change, and to gather information on the presence or absence of ovated, potentially toxic, algae Ostreopsis in the waters of the Emilia Romagna coast. The monitoring network provides for control over stretches of coast with certain geomorphological characteristics, such as the presence of artificial brushes and barriers, however with little water exchange, located in the provinces of Ferrara (Porto Garibaldi), Ravenna (Lido di Savio), Forlì-Cesena (Cesenatico), Rimini (Misano Brazil) see map. The schedule of collection and analysis activities is the same as that of bathing water control, between May and September of each year.
