Nitrates Vulnerable Zones

This service allows you to view and download the updated map of areas vulnerable to nitrates of agricultural origin, defined in implementation of Article 3 of Directive 676/91/EEC and Article 92 of Legislative Decree No 152/06. ‘Nitrate vulnerable areas’ are an integral part of the Water Protection and Use Plan (PTUA — 2016) and as such approved by Legislative Decree 6990/2017 “Approval of the Water Protection and Use Programme pursuant to Article 121 of Legislative Decree No 152/2006 and Article 45 of Regional Law No 26/2003”. Following this approval, Legislative Decree No 2535/2019 ‘Designation of new vulnerable areas from nitrates of agricultural origin within the meaning of Article 92 of Legislative Decree No 152/2006’, which added some additions to the cartography approved in 2017. The boundaries of zone A of the hydrogeological planning plan are also visible and downloadable, within which, pursuant to Legislative Decree 2893/2020 and s.m.i., there is an absolute prohibition on the spread of manure of animal origin.
