Pai Sicilia — Territorial Area between the basin of the Furiano torrent and the basin of the Caronia torrent (020) and the hydrographic basin of the Caronia torrent (021)

The catchment area of the Caronia stream and the adjacent eastern territorial area, including between the Furiano torrent basin and the Caronia torrent basin, are located in the central portion of the northern side of Sicily. The hydrographic district considered occupies a total area of about 132 square kilometers, extending from the main watershed of the Nebrodi Mountains, which separates the Tyrrhenian side from the hinterland, to the streams that flow into the stretch between Santo Stefano di Camastra and Acquedolci. The Nebrodi Mountains constitute a mountain range between the Peloritani to the east and the Madonie to the west, close to the north coast of Sicily.From the administrative point of view, the district in question develops entirely in the territory of the Province of Messina and includes a total of 4 municipal territories (Acquedolci, Capizzi, Caronia and Mistretta).
