Dataset description

The island of Pantelleria is located south of the south-western coast of Sicily and extends with a sub-circular shape for an area of about 83 square kilometers. It has a volcanic origin, following the eruptions of a volcano now extinct, which is identified in the highest relief of the island, Montagna Grande, and which reaches an altitude of 834 m above sea level. The morphology of the island has mainly mountainous or hilly features with a rather irregular landscape, with steep and steep escarpments and rare sub-flat areas near some coastal areas or at some calderic depressions such as the Plane of the Garland or the Plain of Monastero. The coasts are rather jagged and irregular with numerous coves and natural bays. Often they are made up of high cliffs overlooking the sea, while in other areas they are characterised by wavy surfaces that go up to the sea with rather low coasts. In addition to the aforementioned Great Mountain there are numerous other heights, corresponding to other minor craters, which often take the name of Cuddie. These include Cuddia Attalora, Cuddia Mida, M. Gibele, etc.. Among the various heights and reliefs there are large depressions or undulating areas with more or less irregular morphology. Inside the island, in addition to the main town, Pantelleria, there are numerous other hamlets, including Scauri, Khamma and Tracino. There are also numerous settlements of seasonal or agricultural character variously distributed in almost the entire area of the island. A prominent morphological element within the island is represented by the brackish water pond and with intrareic characteristics called Bagno dell’Acqua, which is located in the northern sector of the island. Another peculiar feature of the island landscape, although of anthropic origin, is also represented by artificial terracing that allows the cultivation of even the most steep slopes and that distinguish large portions of the territory.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ of the data published:1) Report basin in digital format (.pdf) 1.1) 106 PANTELLERIA RELATION.pdf 2) Cartography in digital format (.pdf) 2.A) Paper of failures in scale 1:10.000 (N.4 tables) 2.A.1) 106_D_626910_01.pdf 2.A.2) 106_D_626920_02.pdf 2.A.3) 106_D_626930_03.pdf 2.A.4) 106_D_626940_04.pdf 2.B) Hazardty chart and geomorphological risk in scale 1:10.000 (N.4 tables) 2.B.1) 106_P-R_626910_01.pdf 2.B.2) 106_P-R_626920_02.pdf 2.B.3) 106_P-R_626930_03.pdf 2.B.4) 106_P-R_626940_04.pdf 2.C.3) 106_P-R_626930_03.pdf 2.D) Hydraulic risk card in scale 1:10.000 (N. boards)3) Thematic cards in digital format (.pdf) scale 1:50.000 3.1) 106_LITOLOGY.pdf 3.2) 106_USO_DEL_SUOLO.pdf 4) Framework Digital Union (.pdf) 4.1) 106_QUADRO_DI_UNIONE.pdf5) Census boards in digital format (.pdf)—
