Dataset description

The polygonal geometry cartography, in relation to the type of elements considered, in relation to the scope of the Unit of Management (UoM) Po Basin Authority (ITN008), represents the risk map of the coastal area and indicates the potential negative consequences resulting from the floods expressed in terms of: number of inhabitants potentially affected, economic and social activities insisting on the area, installations that could cause accidental pollution in the event of floods, structures and strategic infrastructures (cemeteries, technological facilities, port areas, sports areas, dams, camping sites, tourist facilities), urbanised areas (residential tissue), productive activities (industrial settlements, arable crops, crops, bathing establishments), cultural heritage (forested areas, parks, gardens, natural areas), etc. The risk map developed responds to two different approaches: in accordance with the requirements of Directive 2007/60/EC (Article 6(5)), it indicates the presence and location of the elements exposed within the areas of different flood hazards identified in the hazard maps, which are divided into certain codified categories (population, economic activities, etc.); according to the requirements of Legislative Decree 49/2010 (Article 6(5)), combining the probability of flooding with vulnerability to flood phenomena and the value of the exposed elements, it classifies the territory in 4 risk classes, R1 (moderate or zero), R2 (medium), R3 (high), R4 (very high), in accordance with the Presidential Decree of 29 September 1998.
