Dataset description

Territorial Plan of Provincial Coordination approved with Delib. C.P. of 10/01/2013 (BURT No.11 of 13/03/2013). The Charter summarises the main contents of the research on the identification of ecological connecting areas in the territory of the Metropolitan City of Florence commissioned by the Province of Florence. The following functional units are indicated: — nodes, understood as the ecosystem units of high naturalistic value (core areas) of ecological networks of forests, open areas, shrubs, wetlands; — ford stones and areas of high naturalistic value intended as elements of discontinuous ecological linkage of the networks listed above; — corridors understood as ecological liaison areas; — buffer zones, understood as the areas adjacent to the nodes of the network of woods, open areas, shrubs and wetlands. As regards the ecological network of watercourses, they are distinguished: — knots, understood as the stretches of watercourses of proven high naturalistic value; — corridors, understood as the remaining stretches of waterways, whose connection value is potential or — at the moment — interrupted by artificial causes.
