Dataset description

Historical series of land consumption on a municipal basis and from 2012. Land consumption is a process associated with the loss of a fundamental, limited and non-renewable environmental resource due to the occupation of an originally agricultural, natural or semi-natural area with an artificial surface. It is a phenomenon linked to settlement and infrastructural dynamics and is mainly due to the construction of new buildings, buildings and settlements, the expansion of cities, densification or conversion of land within an urban area, the infrastructure of the territory (source ISPRA).
