Dataset description

The Sustainable Mobility Urban Plan (PUMS) is the strategic document that aims to guide urban mobility policies for the next 10 years. The creation of adequate parking spaces for both modal interchange (exchange parking lots) and accessibility to the most densely used areas (relationship parkings) and for the parking of residents (sedentary or pertinent parkings) are a key element for sustainable mobility: the exchanger parking lots allow easier access from peripheral areas to the public transport force lines, maximising the reduction of private vehicles in the most central areas, while the connecting and stationary parking lots allow to reduce the parking on the road in order to recover space necessary for public transport and cycle-pedestrian mobility. With this in mind, the increase of parking facilities is an objective of great importance for sustainable mobility. The drafting of the PUMS is based on a scenario logic, aimed at verifying and comparing the effects of various possible strategies for the governance of mobility: the Reference Scenario (i.e. the interventions that can be carried out independently of the PUMS because they are already planned-programmed and already provided with financial coverage), the Plan Scenario (i.e. the infrastructural and non-infrastructure interventions, additional to the Scenario of reference that meet the general and specific objectives set by the PUMS), the evolutionary scenario. The geographical data of the PUMS published refer to the three scenarios of the plan contained in the approved tables. The Florence Metropolitan Council initiated the procedure for the drafting of the metropolitan PUMS and SEA verification with Resolution No 121 of 19 December 2018 and by Resolution of the Metropolitan Council No 24 of 21 April 2021 definitively approved the Pums-Urban Sustainable Mobility Plan of the Metrocity.
