Dataset description

The Catasto Sentieri della Rete Escursionistica Lombarda (REL) contains the identifying, descriptive and geographical information related to hiking trails, provided by the territorially competent bodies (e.g. Mountain communities, organisations managing protected areas, etc.). It was established in accordance with Regional Law No 5 of 27 February 2017 (Waking Network of Lombardy).This geographical service contains the following information levels (where available): Routes: each line indicates a stacked path, or an itinerary (“paths” is a linear level); Routes: it consists of the individual consecutive sections of the stacked paths, linked to each other by topological rules typical of the Networks (Arco-node) (“Traits” is a linear level); Nodes: it corresponds to the summits of the paths of the Land Registry, and is automatically generated by the application. The information level consists of the individual consecutive sections of the stacked paths, linked to each other by topological rules typical of the Networks (Arco-node) (“Nodes” is a punctual level); Signals: reports the GPS positions of the individual poles/boards positioned along the stacked paths, which constitute the existing vertical signage (“signals” is a point level); Water: identifies the locations of the water presence points along the stacked paths (“Water” is a point level); Manufactured items: lists the artifacts placed along the stacked paths (“Manufacts” is a point level); Structures_receptives: contains the accommodation facilities located along the stacked paths (“Structure_receptive” is a point level); Facilities_equipment: indicates the equipped structures, with particular reference to via ferratas and climbing sites, but also picnic areas and amusement parks (“Equipped structures” is a timely level); Location: contains the top names of the locations encountered along the stacked paths (“Locality” is a punctual level); PT_INTERESS: identify points of interest located along the stacked paths (PT_INTERESS is a point level); Services: indicates the essential services located along, or in the margins, of the stacked paths (“Services” is a point level); EV_DEGR: reports the reported degradation events along, or in the margins, of the stacked paths (“EV_DEGR” is a point level).This version of the database is being tested. The data entered have UNICAMENTE informative value, for the sole purpose of establishing the regional cadastre. Do NOT use them for hiking purposes. Regione Lombardia declines any responsibility for the misuse of such information.
