Dataset description

The service dynamically produces the map of the Inventory of Franosi Fenomeni. The Geological Service of Italy, APAT (now ISPRA) has set up, in collaboration with the Regions and Autonomous Provinces, a reference territorial information system for the mapping of landslides. The Abruzzo Region with the Soil Protection Service, following the agreement with APAT and the University of ‘G. D’Annunzio’ of Chieti and Pescara, through the revision and homogenisation of the available data and their integration in the areas under investigation, has prepared a picture of the phenomena of gravitative failure extending to the entire regional territory. The methodology used for the collection of data included the interpretation of aerial photos, the analysis of archive sources and bibliographics properly integrated with direct surveys on the ground in order to calibrate, verify and integrate the acquired data. Data on landslides coming from the Strand Plans for Hydrogeological Setting are part of the sources and have been included in the IFFI project. The cartographic representation of landslides was made using the following elements: 1) PIFF (Identifying Point Landslide phenomen): it is the point, by convention, at the highest altitude of the crowning of the landslide and contains the main information such as identification code, type of movement, etc.; 2) Polygon: the landslide phenomenon with a surface greater than one hectare is also mapned with a polygon, defining the area; 3) Line: it is used to represent linear landslides that have a non-cartographable width; 4) Direction: indicates the direction and direction of the landslide movement.
