The main geometric reference from which land use limits were drawn was the digital orthoimages made by AIMA in 1997 (scale 1:10000) and the Landsat TM5 satellite images (pixels of 30x30 meters), acquired in three steps corresponding to late spring, summer and winter to cover significant phenological phases of natural vegetation and major agricultural crops. In order to calibrate the photo-interpretation work, 1000 known coordinate points were chosen, of which the use of the current land was detected during the campaign, which, if it coincided with the one visible on the orthophotos, allowed the development of the interpretation keys. The legend derives directly from that Corine Land Cover and is structured into four levels of deepening; the classification of the first tier is as follows: 1) Artificial surfaces (urbanised environment); 2) Used agricultural areas (Cultivated environment); 3) Wooded surfaces and semi-natural environment; 4) Moist environment; 5) Water environment.
