Dataset description

This archive contains the basic information on the road network of the territory of the Metropolitan City of Florence and is organised according to the typical structure of the networks composed of the entities “Elemento Stradale” (arch) and “Road junction” (node). To the basic entities that make up the vector graph, are associated with the information relating to “Toponym Road”, “Extended Administrative” and “Road Cippo”. The “Toponym Road” consists of a set of road elements aggregated within a single municipality according to the name that the municipality assigns to the road, while as regards the “Administrative Extense” is made up of a set of aggregated road elements within a single municipality according to the name that the municipality assigns to the road, while as far as the “Administrative Extended Access” is defined by the basis of the classification of the road. The road graph consists of a core of information that defines the address data pack (DPI): · road elements, · joints, · toponyms, · extensive administrative, · access, · civics, · mileage stones. The graph has been built over the years using as a starting point the regional CTR in 10k and 2k scales and was subsequently implemented thanks to the contribution of the Iter.net project to which many municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Florence have joined that have committed to provide the updated and certified databases related to road network and civic numbering. New requirements such as the use of the database in mobility support applications (public transport simulations and private) and infomobility (routing, accessibility to places, etc.), the address data pack (DPI) was subsequently expanded with the new data classes (DPA — ancillary information) describing: · points of interest, · semaphore crosses, · restrictions on access to road elements, · prohibited (or permitted) activities. The layer of road elements has also been expanded to store the information necessary for traffic simulation models (functional class, typology, max width, etc.), geocoding information (civil range) and routing information (circulating senses). The road graph published here is consistent with the “Technical Specifications of Export of Graph RT version 1.7.8” of the Tuscany Region.
