Dataset description

Raster cartography in a scale of 1:50,000, extended to the entire territory of the Tuscany region, conceived as a theme of support to the cognitive framework of the II invariant and to analyses on landscape issues in the context of the activities to revise the landscape discipline of the PIT of the Tuscany Region. The map is aimed at highlighting the structural and functional elements of the regional ecological network. The drafting of the charter is the result of a synthesis and reworking of numerous information from institutional and/or free sources. The paper was based on models of environmental suitability of the different soil uses compared to the species of focal vertebrates (sensitive to fragmentation) typical of forest or agropastoral ecosystems. The map is designed to represent the level of ecological fragmentation on the regional scale, the source nuclei of biodiversity for both forest ecosystems, agricultural and pastoral ecosystems, the connecting matrix and critical elements for the functionality of the network. The process of constructing the Charter has been designed so that it can be updated by modifying the components of the Charter, both those which give rise to the structural elements and those that make up the functional elements. The map may also be updated following the implementation of landscape defragmentation measures or, on the contrary, following the emergence of new elements of fragmentation (e.g. road or rail infrastructure). The map may then be updated in accordance with the regional land use update programme.
