Web services of the Italian Aerobiological Monitoring Network “POLLnet”

[POLLnet](http://www.pollnet.it “Italian Aerobiological Monitoring Network”) is the Italian Aerobiological Monitoring Network. [National System for the Protection of the Environment (SNPA)](http://www.isprambiente.gov.it/it/sistema-nazionale-protezione-ambiente “National System for the Protection of the Environment (SNPA)”) formed by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) and the Regional Agencies and Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano for the Protection of the Environment (ARPA; APPA). It monitors and studies the **biological component of airborne particulate matter present in the atmosphere** with particular attention to **pollins** and **fungal sparrows**. The data collected are suitable in **environmental field** to integrate air quality monitoring, estimation of plant species biodiversity, the study of climate change and **health field** to produce extremely useful information in diagnostics, therapy, research and prevention of respiratory allergic diseases. Further uses are also provided in the agronomic field and in the protection of artistic assets (e.g. in libraries, archives, museums). The analyses provide *average daily concentrations* expressed in *pollins or fungal spores per cubic meter of air*.
